Not your traditional festive greeting from Grosvenor Square

December 15th, 2009

This year, we wanted to do a little bit more than simply wish you the very merriest of festive seasons.

That’s why, instead of a card, we’ve created a video guide to give you a new dimension on Christmas in London.

So, watch our festive video now and on behalf of everyone at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square, have a truly wonderful Christmas, whatever you do.

Experience the green

July 30th, 2009

On a sunny day in London there is no better thing to do than to go out and explore the city’s parks. If you don’t feel like getting caught up in the mass crowds and want to experience some of London’s finest, look no more. Cross the street from our hotel and find a spot at the lovely Grosvenor Square Park. Or….for the more active and adventurous people around, how about going for a run or a long walk in one of London’s most famous parks - Hyde Park. Make sure you don’t forget to stop by at speaker’s corner. Here you will hear the ideas and views of the most random bunch of people. It’s almost impossible not to crack a smile when hearing the stories of this diverse group of people with so many different backgrounds. Or if the discussions get too heated, why not cool off along the Serpentine, or go for a horse riding experience. For a wide variety of flora and fauna, St James Park is my favorite one! Be careful with the squirrels though, they got so used to the people around them, and trust me… some of the cheeky ones will not hesitate to come and steal some of your food! Find a spot along the sides of the huge pond, and disappear in a daydream surrounded by the beauty and diverseness of London’s nature, and all of that in the heart of the world’s capital, just miraculous!

Wireless 2009

July 8th, 2009

Wireless 09

Wireless 09

The organizers of the now favorite Wireless Festival 2009 were not afraid to put this era’s two most popular music genres together, all packed into one weekend. Two completely different music types, yet the vibe was the same on both days - electric! Although the grass in Hyde Park was brown and dead due to the fantastic heat wave in London, the crowd was more alive than ever!

The first day kicked off with the legendary Paul Oakenfold playing on the 2nd stage in true party style! Feeling more like a lavish Club in Ibiza than Hyde Park, he was surrounded by huge screens showing images of the LA skyline, girls and the Hollywood Hills. He effortlessly dropped beats mixed in with samples from the likes of Mr Brightside and Sex on Fire that had the crowd bouncing to every word. There was just enough time for a beverage stop in the Serpentine Bar area (which was more like your typical beer garden) before heading back to the 2nd stage for The Streets. Mike Skinner was brilliant with crowd pleasers including Everything is Borrowed before sending everyone over to the main stage for man of the moment Dizzee Rascal who belted out us his rendition of the Ting Tings That’s not my Name. He finished his set with the entire park going a little Bonkers and set the stage for the headlining act that everyone had been waiting for, the legendary Basement Jaxx.  Needing no introduction they roared onto stage with their hit Good Luck, the crowd singing along to their every word. Playing right through all their hits nobody stopped dancing the whole time they entertained us including as rumour has it, Prince Harry, who ran on stage dressed in a Monkeys outfit during Where’s Your head at?! With the sun finally set on day one, we couldn’t have asked for a better start!

The second day was filled with urban music. Young Jeezy opened the day on the main stage and the mood was set. Not only did he bring us his most famous songs, but when doing a MJ tribute the crowd went crazy! Kid Cudi turning Day ‘into’ Night initiated a massive movement of the festival’s visitors going from the main stage to the 2nd stage, where he set the ‘tent’ on fire. When UK’s pride N-Dubz entered the main stage all arms went in the air. Of course everybody was looking forward to the day’s main act Kanye West. The stage was set up as one big solar panel, as always Mr. West had to be in the centre of all the attention with all lights on him. Touch the Sky encouraged a mass hands-in-the-air moment, and the momentous Through the Wire saw 30,000 people simultaneously swaying their hands to the music. The festival was completely sold out on both days and not one person left the park before Kanye left the stage on Sunday.  It was worth staying… the last track Stronger, had all of London’s boroughs feeling the vibrations of the crowd jumping up and down to end London’s best festival as it started, one big party.
